Ann Sedgwick: Incentive Program Travel - Supplier Resources
DownloadsListen to Insights from Ann Sedgwick
Hello, my name is Ann Sedgwick. I’m the Senior Sales Director of Corporate and Incentive Sales for Carnival Cruise Lines.
There are so many components to make up a successful and rewarding incentive program. Clearly, it is very difficult to focus on just one or two, and only speak a few minutes.
However, as a supplier, I would love to encourage you to work closely with your partners to clearly identify your needs on each and every incentive program.
Let’s think of it this way. You paint the picture, then let us help you frame the portrait. Starting with the initial request for proposal, we really appreciate when our partners will share past history of the incentive program.
In other words, obviously as a supplier, we certainly need to know the details, number of participants, number of rooms, requirements onboard, function space, etc. More importantly than that, tell us about some other past experiences. Where have they been before? What do they like about those destinations? Probably more importantly, what didn’t they like? Let’s not repeat any of that. Okay? In addition to that, let your suppliers, who are the specialists in their product or in their destination, share with you unique ideas that will truly enhance the overall program.
We have some things hidden up our sleeve and would love to share those ideas with you. Be sure to ask your suppliers, “How can you customize and make a program unique?” It doesn’t have to be overly expensive, but we can certainly provide some ideas that maybe haven’t been thought of before.
Let’s talk about selecting destinations. When you’re selecting a destination, we always encourage people to look for unique venues with broad appeal. Participants love choices. When they have the choices or options to them, generally ratings from those programs are higher.
Let’s think about that. They appreciate having options, in terms of activities, entertainment, dining options, sight-seeing options, shopping options, etc. Some of you may even be seeing an increase in family incentive programs. I know we are at Carnival. As these requests increase in popularity, especially with so many dual-income families and those families using these incentive programs as their vacations, if you will, it’s really important to customize programs with activities that will appeal to families, knowing those ages of the children that are attending.
Frankly, with so many diverse interests among participants these days, it’s even more important than ever before to offer choices to your participants.
I’m really proud to say that we have many options at Carnival available to you. If you would like to learn more about Carnival Cruise Lines and our incentive programs, please visit our website at www.carnivalmeetings.com. We certainly look forward to working with you in the future. We look forward to welcoming your incentive group on board. Thank you!
